Archived Announcement

Originally published by Bridge Software Technologies on April 11, 2025 under the headline “New Feature Alert: "Seek Shelter" for Tornado Emergencies”, and reproduced here as issued. The original announcement remains the version of record. Product descriptions reflect ProAlert as it stood at the time of writing.

This past week, we launched a powerful new safety feature in ProAlert: Seek Shelter, a fast, site-wide alert system specifically designed to help protect employees during severe weather events, particularly tornados, which many of our U.S.-based clients frequently contend with.

What happens when you click "Seek Shelter"?

  • An air raid siren blasts immediately over the plant-wide PA system.
  • All Andon displays switch to a custom shop floor map, highlighting designated shelter areas.
  • All Work Cell GUIs (WC GUIs) begin flashing the message: "Seek Shelter."
  • The alert continues until the button is clicked again to deactivate.

This ensures rapid, unmistakable communication across the entire facility, no matter where team members are located.

Coming soon in ProAlert v2 (.NET 8)

In our upcoming second major release of ProAlert, the system will allow shelter maps to be directly tied to Andon groups. That means every department or area of the shop floor will see a location-specific shelter map, ensuring people are guided to the nearest safe zone during an emergency.

This enhancement reinforces our mission to make ProAlert not only an operational tool but a critical component of your emergency preparedness infrastructure.

About ProAlert

ProAlert is a single-database, single-login operations platform for asset-intensive manufacturers. It covers fourteen operational disciplines in one system: maintenance management, procurement and supply chain, quality and nonconformance, asset lifecycle and regulatory compliance, A-FMDS daily management, workforce and labor costing, production planning and scheduling, performance analytics, video management, industrial IoT, mobile, safety broadcast, platform foundation, and shop-floor response coordination. Because every discipline shares one asset model, one organizational graph, one audit trail and one event stream, an event captured at a machine travels through all of them with no integration layer in between. ProAlert is developed and supported by ProAlert, LLC, of Mason, Ohio.
