ProAlert is a single-database, single-login operations platform for asset-intensive manufacturers. Every one of those shares one asset model, one organizational graph, one audit trail and one event stream. That is the whole idea. A press is a single record, so the work order the planner schedules, the nonconformance the quality engineer raises, the parts the buyer orders and the depreciation the controller books all point at the same machine. Nothing is exported, mapped or reconciled to make that true.

Traditional reporting aggregates data overnight or at shift end. By then a two-minute stoppage has become a two-hour production loss, and the four systems that each saw part of it disagree about what happened. Operational Data That Actually Moves the Needle

Everything below is one record set. That is what makes the last item on this list worth having: a shop-floor call is not an isolated event, it is a row that the work order, the parts issue, the nonconformance and the asset's cost history all hang off.

Maintenance Work

Work orders with SLA tracking, task checklists, labor time and parts consumption. Preventive maintenance on time, meter, condition or event triggers, with automatic work-order generation and compliance tracking.

Procurement and Inventory

Requests for quote, purchase orders through multi-level approval chains, stock across multiple storerooms with reorder points and cycle counts, demand forecasting, and forward preventive-maintenance parts requirements.

Quality and Nonconformance

Nonconformance register, reject codes, scrap capture with per-source thresholds and an approval queue, defect heat mapping by location on the part, inspection checklists, and electronic signature capture.

Asset Lifecycle and Compliance

ISO 55001 (Asset Management System) policy, plans, objectives, internal audits and management reviews. Depreciation, transfers between legal entities, profitability per asset, and FAA Airworthiness Directive tracking.

Video Evidence

Event-triggered capture from any RTSP (Real Time Streaming Protocol) camera with pre- and post-event buffers, correlated to the operational record it belongs to and exportable months later.

Machine Signals at the Edge

ProAlert EdgeSense reads GPIO and digital I/O and talks to PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) over Modbus TCP/RTU, counting cycles and detecting production state, buffering locally when the network drops.

Shop-Floor Calls

Every pull-cord, button press and machine fault raised as a call: routed by role, claimed by one responder, timed at each step, and closed against a structured failure taxonomy behind a personal PIN. This is the discipline the industry calls andon.

The Business Resource Graph

A multi-parent organizational model, a directed acyclic graph rather than a tree, so a plant, area, line and cell can each roll up more than one way at once. It is what makes multi-site and multi-legal-entity operation work without a second hierarchy to maintain.

Automatic Audit Trail

The audit record is written on every auditable record through a shared data-access layer, not screen by screen. It does not depend on a developer remembering to log a change, which is why it holds up when someone tests it.

Identity, Licensing and Entitlement

Identity with JWT, device trust management and PIN-protected operations. Per-module licensing with per-seat entitlement and trial windows, enforced in the navigation itself so a plant sees exactly what it has bought.

Four Shipped Languages, and Your Words

English, Spanish (Mexico), French and German ship in the interface, set per work center. Terminology is configurable, so a customer renames the platform's labels to match their own plant vocabulary rather than learning ours.

PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) Connectivity

ProAlert EdgeSense speaks Modbus TCP/RTU natively and reads GPIO and digital I/O, working alongside Rockwell, Omron, Siemens, Fanuc and Mitsubishi hardware already on the floor. No changes to existing machine logic.

Documented REST API and Export

A documented REST API with Swagger for any downstream ERP, MES or BI platform, plus CSV, Excel and PDF export from the dashboards. The single database is more valuable when it can share.

The People Behind ProAlert

Built From the Floor Up

ProAlert was not designed from the outside looking in. It was built by people who understood manufacturing firsthand, who knew what it costs when information travels slowly and the wrong person responds to a call.

James R. Mikel, Founder

James founded ProAlert roughly a decade ago, driven by his roots in fabrication and manufacturing. Standing on the shop floor, he watched facilities struggle with slow communication, duplicate responses, and problems that could have been caught hours earlier. He set out to build the tool he wished he'd had... one that turns real-time data into real-time action.

His firsthand experience shapes every product decision. The claim workflow that eliminates duplicate trips, the work order that already knows what the line was making, the OEE calculated continuously rather than in monthly batch reports... these exist because James has felt the cost of those gaps himself.

Steven, UX Design & Communications

In 2021, James brought in his brother Steven, whose background is in UX design and communication strategy. Steven's conviction: technology is only as valuable as people's willingness to use it. If a tool is confusing, workers find workarounds. If a prompt is unclear, it gets ignored.

Steven's work on ProAlert's interfaces focused on making complexity invisible. BOM (Bill of Materials) filtering narrows a parts list automatically. The claim workflow prevents duplicates without coordination overhead. The right information appears when it is needed... without searching. The result is a platform technicians and plant managers can learn in hours, not weeks.
